The most important thing about you is what you think about when you think about God. If this is true, and I believe it is, then how we read, understand, and apply Scripture determines whether we are idolators or true believers. I’ll say it another way: it is of the utmost importance that how you view and understand who God is and what He has done lines up with who He actually is and what He has actually done, otherwise you might be worshipping a god you have made up in your mind rather than the real God of the Bible.
Sound overwhelming? It should. It’s a daunting task and it has massive implications for your soul and the souls of those you know and love. And even though the task is massive and possibly overwhelming, this short introductory class about how to read and understand the Bible will NOT be overwhelming. But it will be helpful. It might just be the most important thing you do this year for your own personal relationship with God. I don’t say this because I’m a great teacher or because you don’t know much about Scripture. In fact, I believe most of you know the Bible well and love the Lord much. I’m encouraging you to consider walking with us through this class because it could change how you view God and help you worship God the way He wants you to worship Him. And I think that is of the utmost importance.
