Membership
Membership is about more than attending church meetings. Members who enter into a covenant with us are called to a higher degree of responsibility, service and sacrifice. By becoming a Covenant Member you are committing to be part of a spiritual family that will provide support and encouragement in your walk with Christ. Our elders and leadership pledge to assist our Covenant Members first and foremost, by providing care and counsel as well as pray, teach and guide as necessary.
Covenant Membership at Welsh Baptist Church is a Three Step Process
Attend the Covenant Membership Class
We hold membership in high regard and want our guests and those who regularly attend to make an informed decision about joining our church. By providing a class we are able to cover the essentials of what it means to be a Covenant Member, our basic beliefs, our distinctives and what you should expect from the elders and leaders. You will meet our staff and leaders and learn how to get connected into the various ministries of Welsh Baptist Church.
The Covenant Membership Class is offered multiple times throughout the year to eliminate scheduling conflicts. We encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a Covenant Member to make attending the class a priority.
Prior to attending the class we invite you to learn more about Welsh Baptist Church’s beliefs by reading our Membership Covenant.
For all the upcoming membership class dates, please contact our office via email or by phone at (301) 689-6332.
Baptism at Welsh
For many, baptism is the first public step of obedience to Christ. If you have not been baptized following your salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a Covenant Member. Before your baptism, a member of our leadership team will sit down with you to answer any questions you might have concerning this ordinance. Our time together will give you an opportunity to share your testimony, learn about the biblical significance of baptism and walk through frequently asked questions and logistical details of the baptism service.
Signing the Covenant
The final step in becoming a Covenant Member is to meet with your assigned membership team leader to sign the covenant. We will explain the covenant, listen to your story and answer any questions you might have about Welsh Baptist and about becoming a Covenant Member or both. Once you have signed the covenant and fulfilled the other requirements of baptism and attending the class, you will be considered a Covenant Member of Welsh Baptist Church.
